Tampa Bay Fishing Report 3/16-17

Fishing Tampa Bay for schooling Black Drum
John with his first 30lb Black Drum

The fishing in Tampa Bay has started to pick up. The Redfish are eating, pinfish and other bait are invading the flats and temperatures are climbing. Fishing this week has been a little challenging do to the wind but we did manage some good days. The Black Drum have started to school up in Tampa Bay and are feeding preparing to spawn. These fish are in the 30lb to 50lb class. We are using light tackle spinning rods and reels, 15lb Fins Braided line and 25lb Berkley Fluorocarbon leader making it very challenging to land these fish. The guys I had on the boat were amazed by the size of the Black Drum we were catching. They were really put to the test but managed to make it. They were great and I want to thank them.
