Fall Fishing

She was released safely

Tampa Bay has plenty to offer in the fall season. Our usual, snook, redfish and trout will be hot until we start to see a major cold front push through. A special fall treat for us in Tampa Bay, kingfish start to show up. They follow the schools of bait fish and the dropping water temperatures and get close enough to our coast to catch.

Snook season is set to close at the end of November. Although we practice catch and release, now is the time to get that last minute keeper. Large “white bait” free lined is your best option to land that trophy.

Tampa Bay Redfish

Redfish in our area have been a little inconsistent but we have managed a few nice days with some keepers and a few “over slot” size. Look for schools of reds to show up around the “New” and “Full’ moons.

Trout have always been our “go to” when the other species don’t want to cooperate. Trout are a good species to practice your artificial skills. Soft plastics with a 1/8 jig head is my bait of choice. I prefer a white or pink color. Now is a great time to find out what works best for you.

Spring Fishing is on Fire

You name it and it has been biting on Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay fishing charters for snook, redfish and trout bite has been hot. Some tarpon are starting to move around and stage up. April is my favorite month to fish. Come fishing with me and you will know why.

The Tampa Bay snook fish has been solid. We are catching a bunch of the smaller ones with a few of the bigger females mixed in. If you get a chance to hook and fight a big female, you will understand why snook are so highly sought after.IMG_0723

Tampa Bay redfish has been great. Some days are better than others but the bite has been consistent. We have had some great days with fish weighing over 15lbs. fullsizeoutput_92c

The Tampa Bay trout fishing has been better than I have ever seen it. We are catching our limit, some days in the first hour. The last week in March around the New Moon, we were averaging fish in the 22″ range. Look for things to stay hot around the moons.IMG_0699

Snook: Tampa Bay snook will be transitioning from winter patterns to spring patterns and they will be hungry. Most fish caught will be 3lb-8lb class with some monsters 15lb + ready and willing.

Tampa Bay Redfish

Redfish: We will see a big push of schooling redfish in Tampa Bay. If you can find a school and hit them just right, you can catch as many as you want.

Sea trout: Trout should start moving around a lot when the bait shows up on our flats. Fun to catch and great table fair.

Tarpon: We have had a warm winter so look for tarpon to start moving around. Stay tuned…

We are booking up fast for Spring. Call, text or email me for rates and information.
